Dr William Carter Visits CERN

Dr Will Carter is away in Geneva this week, taking part in a week long surgical course.

Whilst there he was invited to visit the central control room at CERN, The European Organization for Nuclear Research. CERN operates the largest particle physics laboratory in the world used to identify subatomic particles from the traces they leave in detectors.

Lying 100m under the French Swiss border the detector Dr Carter visited is the size of a cathedral, heavier than the Eiffel Tower and built to a precision of 5 microns.

Queensway Dental Laboratory and Clinic utilises similar precision manufacturing but thankfully on a much smaller scale!

Dr Will Carter and Queensway would like to thank Connie Potter for organising the visit.
