Improve your smile with Invisalign

More and more adult patients are choosing to have orthodontic treatment at Queensway Dental Clinic in Billingham. Many are choosing Invisalign® as an alternative to traditional fixed braces.

Orthodontic treatment improves smiles by straightening irregular teeth and correcting problems with the bite without the need to remove any of the tooth surface, as would be the case with crowns and some types of veneers. As an alternative to traditional fixed braces, Invisalign® works by wearing a series of very thin, clear and removable aligners to progressively straighten the teeth.

Invisalign® treatment, has witnessed a 70 per cent increase in popularity over the last 12 months at Queensway. This is a result of increased interest in adult treatments together with greater awareness of the discrete and great looking orthodontic treatment options which are now available for patients who do not want to wear fixed braces.

Specialist Orthodontist at Queensway Dental Clinic, Dr Guy Deeming says: “Invisalign® treatment is based around a series of great-looking clear, removable, aligners which are custom-made using 3-D scanning technology to create a mock-up of the movements required. Little by little, the aligners move the teeth into the desired position. Treatment usually takes between 6 and 18 months to complete, depending on complexity.”

Dr Deeming adds: “Patients tend to find Invisalign® much more convenient than traditional braces as the aligners can be removed for eating and cleaning. It should of course, be mentioned that not every patient is suitable for Invisalign® treatment which is not ideal for very complex cases. By seeing a Specialist Orthodontist at Queensway, patients can be assured that they will be offered a complete range of appropriate treatment types (including fixed braces and invisible lingual braces behind the teeth) as well as an opportunity for an open and honest discussion about which option will work best for them.”

Louise Woods, 27 from Ingleby Barwick, was unhappy with the appearance of her teeth, as they were crowded and irregular. Louise saw Guy at Queensway and chose to have Invisalign® as she did not want a fixed brace. She liked the way the aligners looked and that they were removable.
