With a recent report from the Health and Social Care Information Centre revealing that 1,235 under-twos needed hospital treatment for tooth decay last year, Queensway Dental Clinic took the opportunity to go out into the community to speak a group of childcare students at Middlesbrough based charity Nacro, about oral health and prevention.
The Daily Mail article reported that the reason that more than 1200 toddlers had tooth decay was because they were given fruit juice in their bottles. Parents often presume it is a healthy drink, when in fact the sugar content can be alarmingly high.
Queensway Dental Nurse Natalie presented to the group useful advice on tooth brushing, fluoride, diet, snacking & sugars and the importance of attending the dentist from an early age.
