Queensway Dental Clinic welcomes Teesside University students to the practice

Queensway Dental Clinic is working in partnership with Teesside University’s School of Health and Social Care to offer final year students experience of working in a practice setting.

The third year BSc (Hons) Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy students attend Queensway in rotation throughout the academic year, which allows them to gain valuable experience under the supervision of tutor Aimee King, a Dental Therapist at Queensway Dental Clinic.

Whilst on placement, under the direction of Aimee, the students are able to work within the General Dental Council’s scope of practice to carry out procedures including routine fillings, gum treatment and the removal of baby teeth.

“It’s fantastic to have a link up with the students at Teesside University says Dr Paul Howlett, Partner and Dentist at Queensway Dental Clinic, the students are the future of dental care and it is rewarding to be part of their academic journey and help them develop their clinical skills to prepare for a career in Dental Therapy.”

In November Gurpreet Badhan, Adetunji Otemade, Louisa Sutton and Sophie Wilcocks completed their placement. Aimee, Paul and the team at Queensway wish them all the best with their studies and look forward to welcoming the next cohort of students to the practice.
