Queensway Patient and fellow fundraisers take on the Mont Blanc challenge!

Queensway patient, Mark Little, is attempting to reach the summit of Mont Blanc, in the French Alps. Embarking on his challenge on 31st July 2014, Mark and 4 friends will hike and climb the 4810 metre peak to raise money for The Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund. The fund is a non-profit organisation raising money to help soldiers either still serving, discharged or retired.

The challenge which will see the five civilians, who have very little mountaineering knowledge, train and undertake The Three Monts Route in Chamonix. They will do so under the supervision of experienced Royal Marine mountaineers, who have offered to take time out of their summer leave to assist Mark and his friends during the challenge and also provide technical kit for the yomp.

To raise money before the expedition the team have organised a charity evening at Low Grange Social Club on 21st June. Local businesses have donated a range of raffle prizes, including a tooth whitening treatment donated by Queensway Dental Clinic, to help raise money on the evening whilst a local band and DJ have kindly offered their services on the evening free of charge.

On behalf of everyone at Queensway we would like to wish Mark and the team the best of luck with their challenge. If you would like to donate to The Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund you can do so by visiting Mark’s just giving page.
