BILLINGHAM PRACTICE
Amy started her dental carer in a Durham based dental practice back in 2000. She went on to do her dental nurse training and was one of the first groups to do the NVQ level 3 in Oral Health. She qualified in 2003 and was fortunate enough to gain employment on the Sedation Department at Newcastle Dental Hospital. Throughout her years of employment, she was able to complete a post qualification in Dental Sedation. She left the Dental Hospital in 2005 and worked as an Orthodontic nurse and a general nurse until 2009 when she started working at Queensway Dental. Since starting at Queensway, she has qualified in Dental Radiography. Her main role was dental nursing until recently she took on the role of supervisor to Queensway’s Patient Support Advisors and supporting the HR team.
How long have you worked at Queensway?
I will have worked for Queensway for 10 years this coming August 2019
What do you enjoy most about working for Queensway Orthodontics?
The thing I love most about working for Queensway is its diversity and dedication to ensuring patients are dealt with in the best possible way. I am proud to work as part of a team that are highly qualified, including the nurses and reception.
Where would a patient usually find you in the practice?
Currently patients will find me in the oral surgery clinics in Ferryhill, Billingham and occasionally Darlington. I can also be found on the reception desk in our main building at Billingham or in the Patient Support Hub.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
The most rewarding part of my job is when a patient leaves the practice happy and we get a thank you.
What do you enjoy doing out of work?
My time outside of work is spent mainly with my 8 year-old twins. We enjoy short bike rides and exploring the countryside or going to the beach. We enjoy going to the cinema or film night at home and like travelling to different parts of the country (but our most favourite part is going up to Scotland).
What makes you smile?
Firstly, my children make me smile when they are not fighting with each other. My colleagues make me smile and are always there to support me when needed. Patients make me smile when they are happy with their visit to Queensway Dental.
