Dr Jennifer Korsen

Jennifer qualified in Dentistry from Glasgow University in 1987 and while working in the west of Scotland, obtained her post graduate Fellowship in Dental Surgery in 1991. She then came to the north east of England and started working in the department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Darlington Memorial Hospital where she continues to work as an Associate Specialist.

She gained recognition from the General Dental Council as a Specialist in Oral Surgery in 2007.

Jennifer also joined the team at Queensway in 2007 and by combining her hospital position with that at Queensway, it has allowed her to gain extensive experience in treating patients in a primary care setting as well as those requiring more complex hospital care.

Jennifer teaches post graduate Oral Surgery to dentists in addition to teaching dentists about how to detect and prevent mouth cancer.

What do you enjoy most about working for Queensway?

Being part of a first class team providing the best possible care to patients which has always been Queensway’s ethos. Queensway inspires each one of us to be the best possible offering gold standard treatment to patients.

Where would a patient usually find you?

I am in our Queensway Darlington surgery on a Saturday providing Oral Surgery (such as removing wisdom teeth or other teeth) to patients who particularly choose to have their treatment carried out at a weekend.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

As an oral surgeon, I recognise that most patients are anxious about having teeth removed and so to hear them say it was so much better and quicker than expected and that they felt they were in safe hands is a real reward.

What do you enjoy doing out of work?

Travelling to new places and sampling local food and wine with my Dutch husband and our 2 children has always been a pleasure. I have also recently become an enthusiast for yoga!

What makes you smile?

Watching my 2 labradors run in and out of the sea chasing a ball
