Gill Fenwick

Gill qualified in 1996 at Newcastle Dental Hospital and has worked in private practices in York, Middlesbrough and Billingham.

At the 2016 National Dental Awards, Gill was crowned ‘Dental Hygienist of the Year’. In the same year she also accepted the National Dental Hygiene & Therapy award for ‘Promoting excellence in oral health’.

Prior to this, Gill has also been recognised by Diabetes UK and won an award for ‘Outstanding contribution to diabetes care and research’.

Gill is also a proud ambassador for the ‘Heart your Smile’ dental charity that promotes dental health within the professional and to our local communities.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Travelling, I try to fit in as many European city breaks as I can every year! I also enjoy yoga, pilates and hiking across our beautiful Yorkshire moors and coastline.

What makes you smile?

Supporting my diabetic and cardiac patients in reaching gum health, which can be especially challenging for this group of people. Knowing that I’ve given them the skills to do this and contribute towards improving their oral and general health too is immensely rewarding for me
